Most people never plan a budget – their spending patterns plan them.

Developing a Financial Road Map : How to make a budget

First of all  you have to find and organise all your filings according to your life style. Your  close family or your friend have to know where to find your documents in case of emergency.

Then, you have to know what are your priorities and prepare your goals. Do not be shy to discuss about this with your family or the people you share your life with. It is important for them to understand the way you think and the way you want to manage your life. They may give you good advices and maybe help you to establish your goals.

Now you know where your want to go (what are your goals), make your budget plan. List all your variable, fixed and discretionary monthly expenditures and class them into categories and according to what you need to reach your goals. Do not forget that you have to care about savings and secure your life in case of emergency. Establishing a budget plan in a logical way helps to optimise your time and your money.

Finally, your financial roadmap is almost completed. Working on pourcentages that you have calculated in your budget plan can help your spendings to become more acceptable and balanced.

Developing a Financial Road Map : Financial Goals

After having analysed and studied financial goals and standing budget we are able to see clearer and we have an idea about our overall status. Now, we will probably care a lot about our future expenses. Especially when they are not included in our goals. Since this week, we will think twice before spending our money or, at worst we can always reestimate our goals.

Maybe your small pocket budget can help to limit to alterate your financial goals.
You know how difficult it is to resist to the temptation to spend, then remember that small savings can help to have better future spending.

Quick calculus: If you save one pack of cigarettes a week (lets say 6 euros) you will probably  save  around 25 euros a month. Its almost the price of a monthly phone bill!
